Here is our 3rd Annual MDB Invitational tournament

Tournament event Friday, 6:00 p.m., Sept. 11- meeting & registration at Parking lot at Smallwood State Park near ramp. Saturday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 a.m. boat inspection prior to blast off Sunday, Sept. 13 at 5:30 a.m. boat inspection prior to blast off

Boat Requirements:

1) All boats must be in safe operating conditions, properly registered, and equipped
2) Kill switch
3) Life jackets
4) Livewell
5) Fire extinguisher,
6) MD-Tidal or VA Fishing license

Hotel and Campground Info:

Best Western Hotel, LaPlata, MD, Rt. 301 near the Jct. of Rt. 301/6, 301-934-4900, modern two story hotel, nice, has cable TV, phone, fridge, microwave, outdoor pool, exercise room, continental breakfast, etc. Have to park boat in the front of the hotel or in the rear to charge battery since none of the rooms have private entrances. Great place if you're taking the family. Probably the newest of all the hotels/motels. $84.00 USD /night. Approx. 5-10 miles from Smallwood State Park or Goose Bay Marina

OPEN TEAM BASS TOURNAMENT BASIC RULES
Rule-Interpretations: The tournament rules committee will rule on any unusual situation which may occur. Rules are subject to change.

1. Participation and eligibility: Open to deaf/hard of hearing and hearing who’s CODA anglers age 18 or older to participate. Proof of age is the responsibility of the participants.

2. Fishing Methods: Only artificial lures (scented & pork rind) will be permitted. NO TROLLING FISHING METHOD ALLOWED. Contestants cannot fish within 50 feet of another contestant's boat. No shore fishing or similar fishing method is allowed during the tournament. No fishing with in 100 yards from headquarters or designated area by Tourney Chairperson.

3. Disposition of fish: All fish that are legal size shall be kept alive. Use aerated livewell (if boat has no working livewell - use stringer, and check the fish immediately). Penalty for dead fish is four (4) ounces per dead fish

4. Scoring: Only Black Bass (largemouth and smallmouth) will be counted. No other fish will be scored. Scoring will be determined by the weight total point system.

5. Size and Creel limit: There is over 12 inches with (closed mouth tip to tail tip) according to the Maryland Game and Fish Commission Rules & Regulations for Potomac River. Creel limit is ten fish per boat per day (two anglers).

6. Only two (2) contestants per boat.

7. No fishing prior to starting time. If so, you will be disqualified for the tournament.

8. Contestants (captain and partner) are required to be present at Smallwood State park before the tournament event for the purpose of registration and boat inspection (Saturday morning).

9. All boats must carry fish measurement.

10. Any boat that arrives in excess of five minutes after designated ending tournament time will be disqualified for the day only.

11. Ties in total winning points shall be broke determined by the lunker fish.

12. All protests must be made in writing within 30 minutes after the weight-in is complete.

13. All decisions will be finalized by the tournament officers.

14. Sportsmanship and safety: Each contestant must have US Coast Guard approved life vest or jacket at all times while boat is under power by gas motor. Intoxication will not be tolerated and will be a cause for disqualification. Each captain is responsible for safety in boating.

15. No Alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs allowed during tournament.

16. All tournament participants must abide by the rules of Maryland Department of Game & Inland Fisheries. Maryland Deaf Bassmaster Club is not responsible for your damages or injuries. Have fun fishing!
